ABOUT

  • A chance to hear BSO musicians in the spotlight as Principal Oboe Katherine Needleman gives a rare rendition of Bohuslav Martinü's stunning Oboe Concerto.

  • Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, "Scottish," was primarily inspired by a visit to the Holyrood Palace's chapel in Edinburgh, where Mary, Queen of Scots, was coronated.

  • Béla Bartók based his Romanian Folk Dances on several folk tunes from Transylvania, evoking fiddle and shepherd's flute.
