ABOUT

Embark on an adventure of symphonic storytelling as Stravinsky’s colorful ballet scores, Pulcinella and The Fairy’s Kiss, unfold like pages of a magical book. Iberian influences add expressive flair in Andrea Pinto Correia’s Don Quixote vignette and Spanish guitarist Rafael Aguirre’s performance of Rodrigo’s enchanting Guitar Concerto.

  • Igor Stravinsky is known for his colorful ballet scores, among them Pulcinella, famously admired by the legendary choreographer George Balanchine, and Fairy's Kiss, inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's own tribute to Tchaikovsky.

  • Portuguese conductor Joanna Carneiro spotlights Iberia in this program, interpreting Andrea Pinto Correia's musical depiction of the wise men from Don Quixote and welcoming Spanish guitarist Rafael Aguirre in Joaquin Rodriguo's beloved Guitar Concerto.

  • Guitar virtuoso Rafael Aguirre is celebrated globally for his profound musical understanding and dazzling technical skill, having performed in over 40 countries, won 13 first prizes in prestigious international competitions, and collaborated with esteemed artists such as pianist Lang Lang and soprano Fatma Said.
